Lying 20kms off Tairua in the Coromandel, the Alderman Islands are the Poor Knights of the Bay of Plenty.
A rugged and jagged divers playground with a number of walls, canyons and caves have been carved out. The position ensures superb visability and promiximity to the East Auckland Current ensures interesting visitors (such as the turtle on the sightings page). Bronzies were spotted a few weeks ago and I've even heard of hammerhead sightings!
There are a number of underwater pinnacles, Lens Reef to mention one, lying off the SE of the group rising out of 70m to around 12m with the top no bigger than are large living room!
Another must-do is Honeycomb Cave - see pictures right but I wont spoil it for you!
